Biomancy
Biomancy, sometimes referred to as healing magic, was the simple path of magic used by medics, doctors, and other healers. Biomancers studied this arcane path to accelerate the natural healing process of an injured or sick individual.
History #
Biomancy was one of the oldest arcane paths on Legere. It remained unchanged for centuries thanks to its relative simplicity and effective results.
Biomancers were widely employed as lancers, combat medics, or local doctors. Certain criminal organizations employed biomancers as torturers, who would use their magic to heal someone after torturing them before repeating the process.
Process #
Biomancy involved exerting influence over the vita archon, which could create localized temporal accelerations to speed up the healing process. Vita archons could also spontaneously produce the macro and micronutrients required for a full recovery. Because biomancy only increased the rate of healing in a sick individual, it could not remove congenital diseases, degenerative illness, or infections that the body could not naturally overcome.
Even with accelerated healing from biomancy, severely wounded individuals could remain bedridden for several days.
Biomancers worked best as or alongside surgeons. A surgical procedure followed by biomantic treatment could allow for quick recovery from a relatively serious affliction.
The Dark Side of Biomancy #
Torture #
Biomancy could be used to quickly heal wounds inflicted through torture, allowing torturers to subject their victims to the most excruciating techniques over and over again. Although widely frowned upon and illegal in many Legerian nations, biomantic torture was always present in the seedier underbelly of Legere.
Flesh Sculpting #
Biomancy was closely associated with Somatomancy. Both of them used the vita archon, and much crossover in fundamentals were the same.
